Mt. Nelson Place

We provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities within the Columbia Valley.

Mission Statement

"The Windermere District Social Services Society's Mission builds capacity for the inclusion of people with varying abilities. We promote diversity and provide innovative individualized services."

Philosophy

Our vision is for a community that welcomes and includes everyone. We will be a centre of excellence that inspires belonging and connection for the community.

Community Housing

Mount Nelson Place is a shared living facility for adults with 24 hour community support staff. The atmosphere is one of home, a caring, warm place. All residents have input governing program, meals, activity and home decoration.

'Choices' Program

The 'Choices' program is community-based open day program for our adult residents to promote independence in home skills, personal development, social recreation and community access.

Community Inclusion Program

Our Community Inclusion and Outreach Program is developed and based on the needs and desires, interests and abilities, support preference, and goals for inclusion of the individuals we serve. Access and inclusion in welcoming environments which foster friendships, build connections with community, and recognize the strengths and talents of everyone are our priority.

History

Since its inception in 1958 the Society has endeavored to promote the inclusion of the citizens of the Columbia Valley who have a developmental disability into the fabric of community life. We are a non-profit group funded by Community Living BC.
